Do you have a student with dyslexia? A struggling reader? A student who has trouble spelling or mixes up words and word parts?

I can help.

I am a former elementary teacher with a passion for teaching reading, spelling, and grammar. After working in a special education classroom and then teaching my own class of fifth graders, I was blessed to spend several years at home raising my 2 sons. During these years, I worked as a substitute teacher, tutor, childcare provider, and later created a kindergarten enrichment program that I ran in my community.

Meanwhile, as a parent, I was also trying to figure out what was going on with my younger son's language skills. He often got frustrated when he couldn't recall words, and had speech therapy from preschool through first grade. He did well in school, however, so his teachers had no concerns. We finally had him tested in sixth grade and discovered he is dyslexic, one of the many bright kids who fly under the radar by developing their own coping skills.

In order to help my son - and other students - I decided to get certified in the Orton-Gillingham approach. This is a structured, multisensory approach to teaching reading skills that is beneficial to any struggling reader, but especially those with dyslexia. I am currently certified as an Academic Language Practitioner through ALTA, and also a Dyslexia Practitioner 1 through the IMSLEC-accredited program at the Children's Dyslexia Center, including 100 hours of practicum - but your student does not need to be dyslexic to benefit from my services. At this time, I am tutoring in-person near my home in Dublin, Ohio. Contact me for a free consultation!
